HD TV subs lag behind as cable TV takes off

What a pity someone has to buy TV sets and watch TV programmes; it makes broadcasting so much more complicated. As the industry drive towards 3D TV becomes more insistent, disconcerting figures show HD TV isn’t catching on and manufacturers and platforms have a long way to go persuade consumers to adopt even this technology.

If only they could be forced to cooperate.

EC grants approval, OFT withdraws request, consumer groups fume

Last month FBTVN reported that the merger between Orange and T-Mobile was likely to be delayed, as the UK’s Office of Fair Trading had put in a request to the European Commission to allow it further scrutiny of the deal. Well this has proved wrong, with the EC approving the deal this week, and the OFT quietly getting on with other matters.
